I'm curious, how come you don't know what your folks believe? is it kind of a taboo subject?
Nothing is really taboo in our household. It's a very laid back environment... We talk about all kinds of things that I think most families would be appalled by. I know more details about my mother's sex life than any child probably ever wants to know, and the reverse is also true. There doesn't appear to be any such thing as taboo in our house.
It's like no one in my family cared about religion. Like it never came up because no one gave a shit. Once when I was about 8 years old I remember asking my mother why we didn't go to church like everyone else did. (I grew up in a small rural community in the bible belt. EVERYONE went to church.) Her response was, "Daddy is mad at God since your great grandpa died." I have never asked for elaboration. My great grandfather died of natural causes in his 90's... Nothing that one should feel particularly jilted about. Also, we never went to church BEFORE great grandpa died either.
I haven't asked about anything to do with religion since I was 8, though.
