Over the last few weeks, it seems that if you have an opinion, not just bella or Paul and perhaps others; that is not acceptable, the whole community comes down on you like a ton of bricks. I have some advice for you, you will need to welcome other peoples opinions, regardless if you like them or don't like them. The bottom line is this, you criticise religious forums for being so narrow-minded and NOT allowing you to have an opinion, yet at the same time, this forum is going the same way as religious forums are i.e. you are wrong, your opinion is not accepted here, you are an idiot, you are a moron, you are a douche, that's bullshit etc etc etc. Well, give it time, this forum will become one of those religious ones, but from an atheistic point of view. If your point of view isn't accepted, then you are not welcome.
I hope you're getting a discount on all that straw.
Quote:You are culturally ignorant. The Americans are culturally ignorant and I stand by that claim regardless of how you want to take it. Thank God for Europe its rich multi-cultural heritage. With you guys, it is black and white and sod everyone else in between. You are culturally ignorant and arrogant because I have seen Americans come over to France and their language skills are non-existant, where they think everyone speaks English. It is arrogant. I have seen yoghurts with more culture.
Amazing.
You know nothing about me, yet you're willing to ascribe all kinds of attributes. More irony: when describing language skills, you can't even spell "existent" correctly.
Robert, how many languages do you think I speak? How many countries do you think I've visited? In how many do you think I've lived? What do you think my university majors were? How many friends from all over the world do you think I have?
Culturally ignorant? No one has anything on you.
So, you have visited a lot of countries, so a great deal of others have done so too. Again, for the second question, many millions have done this over the centuries. Thirdly, what your majors have to do with this god only knows. You could have a degree in social sciences and art, but is it relevant? Does having a degree make you anymore qualified than myself? For example, I went to France with no language skills, yet I can bet I can translate conversations, translate documents, have meaningful discussions with various other people about different things, and I can guarantee that I would be better qualified than someone who is majored in French. As for your friends, it is not the quantity, but the quality of friends you have that counts. I have friends from Hokkaido and Shikoku, and I have friends from Hong Kong, or to be more precise if you wish, the New Territories, from places like Tsim Sha Tsui, Shatin and Yuen Mun. Why not my friends and family (family of my girlfriend who is Franco-Armenian with a Franco-Vietnamien father), who live in Vietnam, Armenia and the Ivory Coast. My interest in the Japanese language, the Chinese language and also the Korean language helped me enrich my culture and learn a great deal about the aforementioned languages because of friends I have which sparked an interest, and also because of the sport I practiced (Tae Kwon-Do) for a few years. I also enrolled in a Chinese school which enabled not only the Hong Kong Chinese (in England) to be able to learn Chinese so they can visit China (pre-1996) it also opened doors for people like myself and other western groups to learn another language and culture other than French, Spanish or Italian. I could go on, but just like your post, it is irrelevant to the thread and quite frankly, your opinion will never change, in spite of the fact that you don't even know me which makes you assume many things about me.
