Honestly it's good that he got that many at least. Inciting people to support a terrorist group is a very passive crime, compared to, say, actually ordering people to commit terrorist attacks. Choudary knew (or thought he knew) where the line was drawn for years, and he only barely went over it this time.
Hopefully when he gets out he'll go off the rails completely and just get re-arrested.
Inciting people to join and forcing people to join either Islam or radical activities does happen a great deal in French prisons over here. So, although he got off scott-free in the sense of duration, he got 5 years isolation which could only be a positive sign. Fewer, if any prisoners will ever be radicalised by this scum.
