The Bible is like a rule book for gang members, and the rule book says to bring in as many members as possible, especially those who can work and bring in more cash and goods. Even a small amount of cash is good. I was born into the catholic gang. My grandfather studied to be a priest, my dad is a deacon to a small community church that was started about ten years ago. My grandmother still goes to the same catholic church she has been going to for decades and she would have loved to have one of her sons be a priest.
I am an atheist now, but it wasn't until I completely ruined my relationship with my family and church members. Gangs keep a good account of their members and ex members. I have rebuilt my relationship with my family, but i won't ever go to church again. I still have church friends basically because those are the only type of people around here.
My point is that church and church membership is no different than gangs and gang membership.
