Why Catholics Are Right

Hi thesummerqueen,

Smug is much too confident in the self, what you're perceiving is simply confidence in God. This is at the heart of why I can live without any significant concern for the opinions of others when it comes to my faith and love of God. But, as a sinner I most certainly have many occasions where I know I fail another person. Be it through impatience with my wife or children...or maybe I sin by having the audacity to think something better of myself over someone else. In these types of situations I do concern myself with the opinions of these people. This concern is rooted in my personal understanding that by behaving this way, be it with arrogance or lack of charity or..., I know that I also offend God.

I personally don't have the confidence to say with any certainty that I'll make it out the door and off to work today. I've been blessed to realize that God decides if I get another heart beat. It's so humbling to realize how dependent we all are on God's life giving grace. Of course, I understand that most here disagree with this belief but we've all been given the free will to choose our path.

But for the grace of God, there go I...
