The most common form of fmg is to remove the labia, not the whole clitoris.
Since all zygotes are female, a penis is literally an extended female sexual organ. The labia is much like the part that turns into the foreskin on a male.

And so.....it's really nearly exactly the same thing. It's even done originally for the same reasons, to make sex and maturation less appealing.

I had to do some extra reading just so I don't get the terms wrong. So clitoris is actually more than just the visible pea-size part as the larger portion of it is hidden behind the vulva. Sort of like how the tip of the iceberg is visible, but the larger portion is concealed by the water.

The visible part of the clitoris then is the clitoral glans. And so the mildest form of FGM (which is still barbaric nevertheless) is the removal of just the glans part.

It makes me a little nauseous to even discuss this, but yeah. So perhaps there is some unfair equivalents here, as it appears the more severe firms are more common than I thought. I just cried watching a 5 year old girl scream bloody murder while her family held her down for this...asking why mommy and daddy were doing this. Omfg, Im a bit of a mess, that was horrid to see let alone know many have had to endure. Would it be better if she were a newborn. Absofuckinglutely not!. Barbaric indeed.

But it's just a few centimeters of skin, right? lol. Yeah, some of the most sensitive and specialized skin on the human body. Imagine having the tip of your tongue cut off, or even just the barest tip of the finger. Not to the bone, nothing drastic, lol, just the pad. Ugh, is that humane? Male or female? I'm not trying to be insulting, just gut reaction there.
