Some theists would say that they do get evidence through "experience" in some unquantifiable yet real to them way.
Others would say that god is unknowable existing outside of our experience, making any claim made about this unknowable entity laughable....hello he's unknowble people.
Basically people wil find ways to justify their beliefs to themselves, if they can find evidence no matter how tenuous then they will cling to that, if there is none then they just philosophise the hell out of it until it kind of makes sense to them.
