People hold open doors, and say excuse me if they bump into me, all the time. People let other people in line when waiting to exit a parking lot, or change lanes.
I think it may be a locale thing. Despite what is spewed, it isn't a millenial thing, plenty of young and polite people around here as well.
I would say it also varies in politics. One rotten apple can infect the whole barrel. Some politicians are just more polite than others. Obama is a truly gracious man who has set a very high standard. Bush Sr and Reagan, , even though I voted for neither, were both gentlemen.
If this race was Bernie vs Romney, for instance, I expect it wouldn't be the circus we are seeing now.
