Yes, those disasters happen and no entity creates them. However, if one did, it would not be an indication of a loving god. Just to be clear, though, my description said nothing about being evil. Being worthy of fierce hatred, yes.

I have heard similar comments. Wishing you had faith and being capable of it are quite different. I am not one of those people. It would be nice if there were some kind, thoughtful being watching over me, but that is not the description the Bible gives of god. Even if it were, I would be an atheist. There is no proof of the horrible god depicted in the bible or the kind god depicted by douches that try to convert me.
