Information: what is conveyed or represented by a particular arrangement or sequence of things.
There are many different usages of the concept of information, from data, knowledge to a way of understanding physical systems. Information theory came out of our understanding of thermodynamics for example.

You need to specify what definition of information you are using before we can say whether it only arises from intelligence. Otherwise you are relying on equivocation.
But for myself, I see information as a mere concept that allows us to reason about the world in the same way that we do with Maths, Logic and Language.
