To make it even more simple and to repeat what I said to Mathilda.
We're not talking about a species but a piece of technology. Technology of the time of it's creation. There's a ceiling what that technology can or can't do. Hard as well as software required to run that thing won't evolve. They will be frozen in time together with their limitations.
Apart from failing to understand why you don't consider energy requirements an important question. We, as a real species, need energy to keep going. It's called food and drink. If you unplug your computer it won't do very much, even if you have the fanciest CPU installed.
But if there are so many numerous ways and sources involved, name a few. And please, you opened that can, it's the future doesn't count as an answer.
