1. They're already cutting him slack for it. It's one of those weird things where he said words that were identifiable in English and reasonably interpretable as to their meaning, i.e., "I'm going to build a wall to keep out Mexicans," meaning that he's going to get money in order to construct a structure spanning America's border with Mexico as a preventative measure meant to curb illegal immigration, but instead those words are now being interpreted differently by his supporters to mean that he's just going to do something about immigration. Presumably something terrific.
