I wasn't allowed to be feminine growing up at all, but it's something I've always felt at my core. Once I didn't have to hide it so much, I instantly started feeling positive about my life for once. It's definitely important to me. I also started to notice other women in how they presented themselves once I had something to compare it to. So yes, that's normal as far as my experiences go. The other big difference between how I act and how I was raised to be is that how I take care of people and how I like others taking care of me is far different. I definitely appreciate my boyfriend's masculinity as a big shoulder to lean on, but I care for him by being there as a comforting emotional support.
I wouldn't say men and women are all too different in most things. Masculinity and femininity, at least in my experience, are mostly about how you approach life. Beyond that, everyone is also an individual. I at least appreciate the fact that I've experienced an inside look at both ways, even if one certainly never fit me well.
