First and foremost, Maelstrom, congratulations! You are a free agent. Sure, money is tight (or maybe it isn't) and uncertainty can be a bit intimidating.
But I'll be the first person to admit that I absolutely love being fired from or quitting a job. That may sound strange to some, or most, people but it is honestly one of the most freeing feelings in the world (that and having nether regions yanked vigorously by a Polynesian little person - political correctness is somewhat important). I've always seen it as an opportunity to change my life around. I've honestly walked out on many jobs mid shift. I've no-call-no-showed myself out of at least two positions. Yea, I'm that guy. And guess what?
Every time I have been fired from or quit a job, I always got a better job eventually. Sure, the transition job may not have been great but I always held out for that better job. Now I'm 23, I make about $20 an hour working full time and I'm a small business owner. I also do various side jobs for extra money every month and even though I'm busy as all hell I am very happy with where my life is at and very happy with the number in my bank account. Money isn't everything, don't get me wrong, but damn it feels good when you don't have to worry about bills.
Fuck your old job. Fuck your old boss. Who cares? You owe them nothing. Maybe you messed up, maybe you didn't. Maybe the write up was complete bullshit. Trust me I've been there. But you only owe it to yourself to do better, get payed more and do something you want to do for a living. And maybe that won't be your next job or the one after that or the one after that, but eventually get to a place where you want to be.
Bosses can be assholes, I have employees and I know firsthand I can be an asshole sometimes. Fuck your boss. Take the write up and wipe your ass with it.
Find a new job, do better for yourself and get paid more. Life fucking sucks at times but ultimately it is what you make of it.
Also next time just sign your name and put "In receipt" near your signature, basically showing you were only admitting you received the notice by signing it, not admitting to its claims of what you may or may not have done.
