IOWs, seeing others who've grown up and been successful in whatever endeavor, be it love, business, art, writing, that's a great antidote.

It's not about that. It's about whenever a mixed race person has wants to learn about their roots people always want you pick a side. And when you have black blood people cling to this Willie Lynch bullshit of you're just black if have any African blood who cares about the rest of your self. And it's not right that my family keeps trying to make Jazz identify as simply black when she has expressed that she doesn't feel that way. And as the only other multi ethnic person I feel need to take up for baby cousin. She has a right to her identity. To her history. To be whole and not have adults around her make feel wrong for it. And while I know they'd never admit to it I there's a bit of envy over Jazzy's privilege as light skinned person. And I think we play favorites. And perhaps I do a little since I took care of her during her babyhood.
