My thoughts exactly. Why would I look forward to... the cessation of all perception? I quite like being alive.

I think that is the point. It is an end to all pleasantness, sure, but it also an end to stress, anxiety, depression, etc. I can see how a person might look forward to a permanent and total vacation.
