What Does/Does Not Offend You?

I'm offended by Racism, sexism, homophobia and attacks on free speech. I'm also offended at being called a racist, sexist or homophobe, because I find all those things offensive myself. I think calling someone a racist is designed to offend them, also it's normally said by people who are offended by virtually everything.


I guess I'm not offended by pretty much everything else. I'm not really a very easy person to offend.

I didn't kudos your post this time because when talking about how calling people racist offends you you didn't specify that that only applies to non-racists being called racists. Actual racists should be called out as a racist as much as possible.

(You're actually wrong though... "obviously" shouldn't be capitalized because that sentence started with "Lol"

Also.... the incomplete sentences were intentional and for punchy effect or whatever. You know, being informal, talking like George Carlin does sometimes Incomplete sentences are fine when we're being informal sometimes.)

Well it wasn't clear whether or not you were making 'lol' an independent thought or not, since previously you had separated it from the rest of your sentence with a comma and that time you did not. Comma use has a little wiggle room in English but needs to be consistent throughout someone's writing to be used correctly. So if you are going to make 'lol' an independent thought once, it should be kept that way. So in that case obviously can remain lower case but should be separated from 'lol' with a comma since you separated it once with a comma. Like your incomplete sentences, I didn't capitalize obviously intentionally because it was referring to a specific word and thus was kept in the original state. When referencing someone else, you should always keep the original spelling, punctuation and capitalization, although possibly I should have marked it with (sic) in order to be clear. Intentional grammar errors, like incomplete sentences, are of course still grammar errors. When someone uses internet slang and spelling, they are doing so intentionally. Lastly, even if you enjoy being corrected (I'm skeptical) most people find it annoying and condescending. It's also used, like pointing out logical fallacies, to avoid addressing peoples points.

Also you didn't read my post very well, since I didn't say I was offended by people in general being called racist. I said I was offended by being called a racist personally (I'm not one) as it's a very offensive thing to call someone. I'd assume you probably don't like being called a racist either. I don't have any problem with calling someone who is racist a racist. Racists generally don't mind being called racist though. I mean if you call a KKK member a racist, I don't think it's going to upset him very much. Me on the other hand, I'm greatly offended at being called a racist.
