Why do we live? Because we were born. Why? Because our parents had sex? Why? To make children. Why? Because they wanted a family. Why? They wanted to fulfil their goals for life. Why? Because they wanted to be happy. Why? Because it's more enjoyable to live happy. Why? Because the stimuli released by the brain that we refer to has 'happiness' tends to suggest we are functioning properly and free from danger. Why? Because the body has evolved mechanisms for monitoring it's self. Why? So it can better survive. Why? So it is more likely to reproduce. why? To pass on it's genes. Why? Etc...
