You are basically saying that the admirable people I listed in the OP have childish dispositions. How is that not insulting?
Even the most admirable people with impeccable credentials can have childish beliefs and opinions. I'm thinking particularly of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and his fairy fetish, but he's hardly alone. Criticising those beliefs is hardly a criticism of them personally, unless it's made to be so. And beliefs should be criticised.
