I managed to download it and here's the list of those who displayed mental illness during their presidencies:
- John Adams: Bipolar II [Don't have much info there. Most of what I know comes from 1776, but apparently his family had a history of erratic behaviour, which he had been known to succumb to.]
- Franklin Pierce: Alcohol Abuse; Major Depressive Disorder [Having your last remaining son die in front of your eyes in a train accident just before getting into office will do that to you]
- Abraham Lincoln: Major depressive disorder, recurrent, with psychotic features [Very well-documented, really; Quoth Honest Abe: "I am now the most miserable man living. If what I feel were equally distributed to the whole human family, there would not be one cheerful face on the earth. Whether I shall ever be better I can not tell; I awfully forebode I shall not. To remain as I am is impossible; I must die or be better, it appears to me."]
- Theodore Roosevelt: Bipolar I [Not much of a surprise, really, given his personality; no wonder they got Robin Williams to play him in a movie.]
- William Howard Taft: "Breathing-Related Sleep Disorder" [Not much of a mental disorder, but still in the DSM; it may be the result of being so damn obese.]
- Woodrow Wilson: Anxiety Disorder NOS; Major Depressive Disorder; Personality Change After Stroke [Apart from his stroke, there's controversy whether or not his personality problems were due to an anxiety disorder]
- Calvin Coolidge: Major Depressive Disorder; Hypochondriasis (?) [He was so embattled by grief after his son died he chose not to run again in 1928; his "Silent Cal" reputation may have its roots in a larger disorder, though.]
- Herbert Hoover: Major Depressive Disorder
- Lyndon Baines Johnson: Bipolar I [Once again, knowing that this is the guy who whipped his dick out at little to no provocation, it'd probably be more surprising if he didn't have bipolar disorder; if he wasn't a congressman/Democratic Whip/Senate Democratic Leader/VP/President, he'd have ended up as one of the "naked crazy" stories on [i]What the Fuck is Wrong With You?]
- Richard Nixon: Alcohol Abuse [Not much of a stretch, there.]
