This guy (Donald Trump) had every major celebrity in hollywood going against him, people on television full on laughing at the idea of this man being president.
President Obama mocked Trump at a dinner party, I think some of the jokes were even about Donald never being president. then a couple of years later Donald took his job.
I don't know anyone who wouldn't get at least a little ego boost from that. Someone who can say "I had the president mocking me, George Clooney, all the major pop stars and actors in hollywood making fun of me, took me a couple of years to take the president's job."
What other standard things make a guys ego blow up? Having a good looking girlfriend, he's got that. Money, he's got that. Fancy cars, good job. I don't know much about his kids but I think he's succeeded in having fairly competant kids, they're a good looking bunch too.
Considering all the factors of his life I'd say he's actually pretty humble. Some guys go walking around as if they're god if they get a little promotion in work or success with a girl, this guy's got, or at least had model girlfriends and took the president's job.
What's kind of funny is I just saw a clip on TV of Trump bragging about how humble he is. That's usually a joke but the joke appears to be lost on Trump... perhaps because of a personality disorder?
In response to you post, I would have to point out three things.
1) Trump has been behaving this way forever. He was pretending to be his own publicist decades ago and was lavishly bragging about himself in the third person. Pretty weird behavior having nothing to do with silencing his current critics. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/...c5ac7de6cb
2) He lied about being a self made man on a million dollar loan. The fact is he took over his fathers company at a young age and received many millions at that point as well as inheriting tens of millions from his father. No one knows exactly how much he received. Trump could clarify all his claims by releasing his tax returns but refuses to do so because the truth would be harmful to his ego. This is what you would expect from someone with NPD.
3) There are many billionaires much wealthier than Trump, who really are self made... and they don't behave in a super narcissistic fashion like Trump. Bill Gates and Warren Buffet come to mind. So being born into a wealthy family is a very bad excuse for Trumps constant over the top bragging about himself and inability to take any kind of criticism.
I don't know much about trumps past but I'll assume all that is true.
But I think I still think it's fairly common for any human being, in particular a male human being, to behave like trump does when they have a lot of money and success in life.
Athletes are renown for this type of behaviour, they earn millions by the age of 21 and a few years after they retire they've lost it all because they forget about taxes and spend money on platinum diamond encrusted watches.
Trump may have a lavish lifestyle I suppose but in comparison to other billionaires or millionaires he isn't that notable.
I have to admit I find all these classifications of mental disorders and addictions to be pretty much bullshit anyway, an American thing where everyone has bi polar depression and a sex addiction.
