Plenty of people keep peddling shit that's been shown to be demonstrably untrue....and we are talking about politics here, aren't we?  Do you think he says it because he believes it, or because his base believes it, because they want to hear it?  He didn't invent the narrative, after all.

I think most older people, myself included, have never seen any politician come anywhere near the levels of self delusion and lying in the manner Trump does. Even when caught red handed on tape. This is unprecedented. (Unless you count Kim Jong Un)  Even when his own advisers tell him it's self destructive he can't seem to stop and that's one of the reasons I see it as pathological.

A normal, run of the mill asshole doesn't care that he didn't win the popular vote because he won the election. To an asshole, who cares what the majority thinks if you've won. Trump on the other hand can't get over it. He's still fuming about it and launching investigations into voter fraud over an election HE WON!
