The real crux of the rules of this place had been for the first three years of a half decade 'apply the intent of the law when they're doing enough damage to warrant it, and fuck the letter of her'. I understand that things might be different now. But I still do look back fondly at the golden age. A place where the rule of law was disparate, but respected as 'just another member debating who loves this place enough to take on extra time to can the spammers'. That bloody april fools I missed spoiled so much
It's a real PR problem when the ruling class frightens the laborers... it's terrible for overall forum health, really. Might speak to why it feels slower... or maybe that's because A+ and Islamic Terrorism managed to disgust a bunch of people back into being Traditionalist Christians to compete on a cultural level. It's probably a lot of factors, though.
As I said, if it's such a problem to have this thread open, it'll be locked... but the real question at that point is: what is the value of archiving a thread if it cannot be reused? Why not just delete it if you're going to lock it? This place isn't supposedly a content aggregate... so why is it storing so much content?
