This person has definitely put themself at a disadvantage in the action of lifting in itself. They probably can't lift the weight they used to if hormone therapy is acting on them the way it is supposed to as far as I can tell.
The advantage is simply gaining competitive prowess because they're in a different competition now, they're against men instead of women.
When this person competed against men apparently they weren't dominating events like they are doing now against women. Unless the article I was reading was misleading about that.
That's not to say no woman could ever beat her either though. That's just where it gets more complicated because women who are born women can be born with abormalities when it comes to bone structure and hormones. It's not that this person has an advantage and is now therefore better than all women.
It's that they might be considered to have an advantage in the sense they weren't competing aswell before as they are now, now they're competing against women.
I'm very honest myself when it comes to physical competitions when I'm against other people. If I was a transexual and I wasn't winning much as a man then suddenly won lots as a woman against women I don't think I could hold my head up high after winning because I'd be at least considering the fact that I might be at an unfair advantage.
Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.
Impersonation is treason.
