I do not deplore loss of life in situations where it is justified. It would have been nice to see the attacker captured alive and sentenced to life in prison, but that's not always possible, unfortunately.
Now Daesh and their affiliates are going to see this twat as some kind of martyr. I'm totally with you on your point about the MCB though. On their fundraiser page, they even encouraged other faiths (and atheists) to get involved which is nice.
