You can however with enough practice, hone your senses enough to gather information from your environment which at first glance might seem impossible. For example there are many blind people who can determine the structure of a room, number of people present there as well as their genders and age group based on subtle sounds, smells and other sensory information which we normally ignore. These kind of information gathering seems to also happen during nde and other out of body experiences. Simply put, it's the brain being able to focus and process certain information which we tend to ignore in our daily lives.
