A number of years ago it was fun to scan the 800 MHZ band with an unlocked scanner and listen to all the interesting conversations going on. You can still do this with analog cordless phones at 900 MHZ if you're close. I don't know if there are many 46-49 MHZ cordless phones in use any more.
I almost wish we could go back to analog cell phones. I hate trying to talk to someone when either I or they are in a bad reception area. With analog cell phones, you might get bursts of static but you could usually understand what someone was saying through the static. With the digital phones we have now, it sounds like they're talking under water and you can't understand a thing.
