At the current rate of success after an investment of 40 billion dollars since just 2003, if they launch 5, 3 will get through. That's if they only have 5 to launch, and none of the missiles carried decoys and any other form of penetration aid.
So based on your theory, if they launch their 5 missiles one at a time, they will get 3 wins, we will get 4/9 wins, provided they forget to put decoys or penetration aids on their missiles. I don't think we are coming out ahead even if "they" is the little fatso with strange hair.
And this is after 37 years of work on what the great gipper, the last republican c-in-c said by some to have been less than totally atrocious, sold as being able to stop the Soviet nuclear arsenal of something like 2000 MIRVed ICBMS and SLBMS each with 30-40 penetration aids.
