By going to see what is clearly a big name cash cow that is just trading off the names of Ridley Scott and Alien, you continue to fund and promote the production of shite sequels (or prequels)

Yeah I remember reading back in 2003 in some film magazine "Total Film" very long article about how alien came to be. So Ridley read the script and told Dan O'Bannon to get rid of "that trash" which included pyramid on that planet where they were supposed to find alien eggs; only to embrace the whole concept in "Prometheus". Not just that but I watched that long doc on "P" blu-ray and they wrote the script in a way that "Ridley opened his office and let people passing by inside to say what they want to see in the movie" and the movie does look like that.
