Busy warring in different hexagrants. Silicoid-Meklar are closest to you, and even have a few ships in orbit around your planet. We're performing too many scientific experiments and using your porn as a primary commodity that we trade with the Sakkra to either take you over or destroy you. You're useful, and being that we are the Silicoid we don't give a fuck about your planet over others so far as food and general minerals. Our Meklar allies would like the planet eventually, but you're much too interesting right now.
Alkari space borders Mrrshan space and that border shifts by parsecs weekly. Klackon space always seems to be expanding, and is the most dangerous of all our enemies. The Bulrathi have been conquered by us and assimilated into our war machine. The Psilon have been eradicated utterly. The Sakkra-Darlok alliance controls a twelfth of the galaxy, but seems to be losing ground in its war with the Klackon, despite our continuous attacks on Klackon space.
And other galaxies similarly are busy warring whilst the ancient Quazilon galaxy-connecting machine pulls Andromeda and Triangulum into us.

Yes.
Why haven't humans achieved spaceflight yet? Sure, they've been to their moon. So fucking what? They haven't started terraforming Mars. What idiots.
Please give me a home where cloud buffalo roam
Where the dear and the strangers can play
Where sometimes is heard a discouraging word
But the skies are not stormy all day
