I had VERY HIGH blood pressure but it was caused by renal failure so I'm probably not much help to you
When my kidneys finally went for good and I felt like I was dying, my bottom number hit 130!!
Omron version. 10 blood pressure machine. It is $75 but very accurate. You get what you pay for when it comes to those.

Yes.
Regularly scheduled check-ups; now only once yearly for me, due to continually stable labs and readings. I self-monitor my BP, and take the medication prescribed to me (a combination ACE inhibitor/mild diuretic) as directed.
Mine isn't curable, only treatable. Almost EVERYONE in family has it; big, tall, skinny, small....matters not. Genetic predisposition.
Keep scheduled appointments. Monitor your BP. Take your medication as directed.
What I eat specifically, doesn't seem to impact my readings so much as maintaining a normal, healthy weight in general. Thus far, it's allowed me to take a minimal dosage of medication, and consistently maintain slightly low to low-normal readings. Aside from periodic episodes of orthostatic hypotension (which I manage easily enough with proper fluid intake), I have no major issues/complaints.
Wow you're down to just one check up a year :0 that's awesome I want to get mom up to one check up in 2 years !but right now she has to check once every week! >~< also how do you check your BP by yourself? I looked online for a digital BP checker but the reviews say they're inaccurate..know anything about that??
