Quote:Sura 21, Page 324, the Quran:
( 30 ) Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, and We separated them and made from water every living thing? Then will they not believe?
( 31 ) And We placed within the earth anchors, lest it should shift with them, and We made therein [mountains] passes [as] roads that they might be guided.
( 32 ) And We made the sky a protected ceiling, but they, from its signs, are turning away.
( 33 ) And it is He who created the night and the day and the sun and the moon; all [heavenly bodies] in an orbit are swimming.
My comments:
verse 30: Big Bang? and water is the key ingredient for life to prosper.
verse 31: gravity? the hugest anchor of all?
verse 32: ozone layer?
There you go again...
Trying to 'ad hoc' passages in your ignorant holy book to sound as if it is scientific.
You do know that Hindus do the same thing with their holy book, right? Just google "science in the Vedas" or something similar.
Yet you don't believe in the Hindu gods.
What gives?
Sounds like you are guilty of special pleading.
Passages in your holy book that can be made to sound as if they are prescient of modern science = my god exists.
But, passages in other holy books of other religions that can be made to sound as if they are prescient of modern science =/= other god exists.
Seems a bit intellectually dishonest of you. But that couldn't be! Theist apologists are NEVER intellectually dishonest.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
