I haven't actually but I have heard the name here and there. How good is it?

It's like I didn't get to like it of my own accord, I kind of had to like it. Despite the fact that I can't point out anything right now, and maybe only a little when I think about it, that was wrong with it.
I recently watched black lagoon. And was pleasantly surprised, despite some of the character interactions not making sense or being poorly translated (couldn't find sub, had to go dub). If I'd watched that show 15 years ago, it would probably have been my favorite anime. It also made me realize the east looks at weaponry in a different way than the west. Weapons, including guns, are more of an extension of the self in anime. While in cartoons, they tend to be more like a tool anyone can use. It's like... anime treats gunfights as if they are sword-fights.
I guess I was lucky because the first anime I watched was Death note. I think I was bored or something so I was browsing through google to find something good to watch and I found the name "Death note" in a lot of place so I figured I'll check it out. I wasn't a huge fan of the whole anime scene then and I was almost expecting to get disappointed. Best experience ever, I don't think I'll experience that again
