Now, I don't know how old you are, and keep in mind, I'm nearly 60 and the mastectomy patients I know are my age or older.

I'm turning 33 in December which was a large factor in why my regular doctor didn't think much of the lump when I first came in.

My family is taking it okay because I've been taking okay so far. My mom cried when I got the diagnosis but she also has a weak cry trigger my sisters are lining up mammograms and doctors appointments. My next oldest sister is one year too young to refer herself for a mammogram so she's trying to work with her doctor to get it done before she moves. My oldest sister's mother (we're half sisters) has had breast cancers since her teens and she is pretty freaked I think. Otherwise everyone is staying upbeat and cracking jokes and keeping me calm.

Oh... I'm at a loss for words...
I remember you being so glad you didn't have a particular genetic marker that increased your chances of getting that cancer...and now you have it...

My dad's family carries the BRCA 2 mutation, the one that if a woman has it she has an 80% chance of developing breast cancer, but he tested negative for it. He was only tested for that one single mutation though. On Wednesday I'm having more extensive genetic testing to see if there might be another gene driving my cancers since I'm so young for this diagnosis.

Well, that sucks! So sorry to hear this. Two kinds of cancer, double the fun. Have you been staged yet or do you have to wait for the 3rd biopsy?

My oncologist thinks I'm "clinical" stage 2 but that will be confirmed by the third biopsy. There looked to be a thickened lymphnode in my armpit that will be biopsied and the result of that will tell me whether I'm likely stage 1 or 2 and dictate whether I get chemo or not. pathological staging won't happen until after surgery.

If you have to go through chemo treatments, I hope you get to wear interesting wigs.

I'm actually wondering if I could pull off the bald look. hopefully my skull isn't misshapen.

Just think, after the mastectomy surgery, you can get whatever size boobs you've always dreamed of.

double mastectomy sized boobs would be pretty close to the size I've always dreamed of. just think of the money I'll save on bras...

If I ever need and good jokes about cancer I'll be sure to ask you guys, I'm sure you'll come up with some good stuff so start working on them now!
