No, it wasn't homophobic. The humor only relies on the idea that a homosexual living as such (and without medical intervention) will not have produced a son. No slight toward gays implied in that.
Do you think that's an accurate implication.....or an expression of bias and ignorance that gets a pass because "it's just a joke"?
To highlight why subtle forms of prejudice can express themselves innocuously and even amusingly, what if the comment had been "I wish his mother had embraced miscegeny sooner" - the implication being that mixed babies were aborted more frequently and did not rise to prominent positions.
Neither joke is based in a factual appraisal, both..however, are based in reenforcing a stereotype. One many of us will immediately identify and rail against. The other is more subtle, more acceptable. Both, at least to someone, would be hilarious.
:raises hand:
What stereotype is that re enforcing? That men in a homosexual lifestyle don't often impregnate women, especially not the same women they would have impregnated in an alternate reality where they didn't embrace a homosexual lifestyle?
RIP comedy, shot in the back by SJW bullshit.
Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.
Impersonation is treason.
