I wouldn't say most humans sell it to exploit, but sure, unfortunately there are just enough on our planet who find it politically useful. 45 certainly didn't mind pandering to our far right nuts.
Most humans buy the religions of their parents, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. The key isn't to rid the world of religion, but to put it on the back burner and put things like avoiding pollution and war, and valuing science and education, and livable wages for workers worldwide.
