Are we sure comparing A Theist to Frank Burns is really all that apt? Because, as a fan of M*A*S*H, I have to say, Frank Burns is really the most consistently popular main character in the series (even if it is mainly because the audience loves to hate him). Of course, it also helps that they occasionally showed the human side to his character: a deeply flawed man who never really made it out of his childhood, a childhood where "I'm from a very strict family. We weren't allowed to talk at meals. We couldn't even hum. Anybody who hummed got a punch in the throat." Seriously, try watching some of the more Rimmer-centric episodes of Red Dwarf and some of Frank's episodes and see how similar they are.





And, really, has AT actually showed anything like that? Comparing him to Frank Burns is an insult to Frank Burns.
