They had a couple of useful divisions -- the Ariete, the Folgore, and their Bersaglieri units -- but the Italians were sensible. They had little use for war.

Who knows..during their final moments the sinners of Hamburg (whoever they may have been) might asked Jesus for forgiveness for their sins in the last few seconds before the flames came for them.
Such a thing happened to a famous nazi leader, Hans Frank. Before He was hanged for his crimes..he confessed his sins. He probably is at least in purgatory by now:
