My barn cat, not yet two years old, tore up a German shepherd who invaded her space.

That's only because dogs are capable of, but not constrained to, being gentlemanly.

My neighbor has a St. Bernard capable of turning any cat and sizeable fraction of the adult human population  into a single paw print.   He takes up an entire elevator car, and horses turn and bolt when he approaches.

You witnessed that fight?
