My grandparents had a big cat like that. He used to guard our plum trees from raccoons. That's not really a fight any house cat is going to win, but hey we found some bits of fur and stuff that wasn't his, so. . . good kitty!
As for the dogs. . . I think most very brave cats are likely to beat a lot of dogs. Dogs just don't get that level of rudeness, and are likely to howl and bolt. But you get a few dogs together, and they will divide and conquer, and there won't be much left if there are even 20 cats around the neighborhood willing to fight them.
