Cause and effect; in other words.
Or maybe the eye developed an affinity to the world around.
To find bounty in beauty.
And to flee ugliness.
Let's consider "eating junk food" to be the example here;experts say:
http://jamesclear.com/junk-food-science
Quote:Memories of past eating experiences. This is where the psychobiology of junk food really works against you. When you eat something tasty (say, a bag of potato chips), your brain registers that feeling. The next time you see that food, smell that food, or even read about that food, your brain starts to trigger the memories and responses that came when you ate it. These memories can actually cause physical responses like salivation and create the “mouth-watering” craving that you get when thinking about your favorite foods.
What is the memory that humans have, that keeps them coming back to the cosmos?
Just like junk-food addiction, we're addicted to thoughts of celestial bodies and entities. Non-religious people might replace "angels and demons" with "little green men from other galaxies", we don't have the same craving for "the underground" per say; oceans do not witness the same spending that outer space exploration is witnessing.
We crave thinking about the high levels of the universe; no matter what. Atheist or religious; it becomes a matter of names: aliens, God, Gods, angels, demons, are we alone? "we are not sure"...

No, I don't buy that argument. Attractiveness is very much in the eye of the beholder. There are many things that some people find beautiful and other people view as ugly, trite or otherwise not inspiring.
A divine hand in making a realm beautiful would also make it necessary to blame that same divine hand for things that are clearly repugnant. Credit and blame must be assigned equally or not at all.
Humans might disagree in the details, but when thirst hits all; drinking is beautiful. Also with hunger.
It becomes a matter of "when". The more you crave something, the more beautiful it gets.
There's an Arabic saying that says::
"القرد في عين امه غزال"
"The monkey is a ghazal in the eyes of its mother"
Quite insulting and I hate it to immense levels , but real. It's "when" the person becomes in need of a child; even a pet would look like a beauty-queen to them. Personally; I think that enforces the bias humans don't pay attention to.
Maybe people crave the cosmos to find a way out of this life. Personally; I do think like that. That's why I see the cosmos beautiful.
In other words; is it true "liking" or just hormones kicking in?
