Whoa, careful where you're pointing that non-sequitur! You'll have someone's eye out!

Sura 7, The Quran:
( 172 )   And [mention] when your Lord took from the children of Adam - from their loins - their descendants and made them testify of themselves, [saying to them], "Am I not your Lord?" They said, "Yes, we have testified." [This] - lest you should say on the day of Resurrection, "Indeed, we were of this unaware."

I think the human sub-conscious knows that God exists all along; but it's the actions we do that write our consciousness, and the real "us" only appear when we hold total control over our senses; i.e when we are conscious.
