That's why I'm always saying atheism is an entirely insufficient label for virtually everything. If the person who killed 900 people (not even sure who the fuck he's talking about, a name would be nice) wasn't a rational skeptic and secular humanist, then I don't really give a fuck what other label applies to them. How many atheists have come out of a religion that has completely fucked up their ability to determine what is moral and have not been able to fill that vacuum with anything better and so they've still been just as big of assholes as someone like Fred Phelps?
Atheism is the equivalent of standing in the doorway of a prison cell. You haven't walked out of it even though the door's open. You're not necessarily going to walk all the way out of it, you're not necessarily going to be leaving everything in the cage behind if you do walk out of it and end up taking that baggage with you, and you're not necessarily not going decide to close the door back on yourself and pretend it's locked again. Completely insufficient to describe anything about a person other than a lack of belief in one or more gods. Every theist today is an atheists in regards to gods of other religions, or even other iterations of the same god that they feel the need to describe differently from their arbitrary (and unreasonable) interpretations of them.

Religions were invented to impress and dupe illiterate, superstitious stone-age peasants. So in this modern, enlightened age of information, what's your excuse? Or are you saying with all your advantages, you were still tricked as easily as those early humans?
