Jim Jones didn't do shit in the name of atheism . Because you can't do something in the name of atheism . Saying you have done something in the name of Atheism is as dumb as saying some did something in the name of non unicorn ism . Neither suggests a course of thought or action . So Jim Jones killed people out of his paranoid delusions not atheism . He could scream i'm killing in the name of atheism and it would still be false . Because one can't kill in the name of atheism . He killed in the name of what he believed not what he didn't believe.
And we have already been over this huggie there are not atheist religions almost all religions have some conception of gods or deities and atheism is a rejection of such enitities . And no just because you use Judo - Christianity traditions to define what a god is does not mean i have too.
No Buddhist have gods
No Taoist have deities
No so do Jain's
So Pantheists -(defining the universe as a mind is still a god)
Animism can no more be a religion then accepting that gravity runs the universe .
And no people who celebration of life are not a religion . By that logic loving music is a religion
And no Secular humanism , Skepticism and Naturalism are not religions either.
