Yeah, I've wondered that myself and the answer that I've heard and a few commenters here have also mentioned is that it's twice the body parts all at once. Watching girl on girl or man on man action doesn't appeal to me though.
I've had "Will you do a threesome?" thrown at me but funnily enough, the men who ask that always mean doing it with us and another woman, not us and another man.
