No matter what you never went to the right church. And on the off chance you went to the same church as the person criticizing you, you just didn't really understand the religion. Christians believe that anyone who truly understands their religion must be a Christian, so anyone who isn't must not have understood.
On another note, I don't go to church unless there's something in it for me. Last time I went I was paid twenty bucks.
