Killing off characters is an old DL tradition going all the way back to Chronicles. The War of Souls trilogy was just finishing the job.
My daughter and a former boyfriend conspired to get me a signed print of Elmore's painting Companions of the Lance. You should have heard the *squee* I emitted when I unwrapped it.
