It doesn't help people who do believe, and it offers nothing to people who don't.
The usefulness is that it helps some people who otherwise had little chance, and if there is any chance of humans to unite on justice and truth, it will be through guidance from God.
And guidance from God is getting us to reflect and see truths upon truths, levels upon levels. At no stage do we follow without knowledge and insight, and follow means you pay attention to the light through those who God has manifested their purity and you recite the Quran through reflecting over their words regarding it, and everything they state is about its interpretation, in some form or another.
It doesn't mean just listen blindly, rather, obey and says hear with your heart and obey once you understand and know the truth.
