That's just and idiotic notion. Life itself, the one you're living now, matters. Sure, you are allowed to live through life as an asshole, but don't expect it to be any fun. You won't be judged by a fictional character when you die, but if you behave like apeshit, be prepared to be judged by your fellow humans. If you care about them or not, that's up to you, but one's truly a fool if he thinks that people around him are inconsequential.
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human.
