The thing with Drich is that these things - non-HIV AIDS, surviving a burst appendix, etc. - are real things that happen, but their consequences don't simply vanish into thin air.
Non-HIV AIDS (Idiopathic CD4+ T-lymphocytopenia) exists. It's incredibly rare (about 1% of all AIDS patients have it), but it exists. Research is currently being done on it. You can read more here: http://www.autoimmune.com/Non-HIVAIDSGen.html. Suffice it to say, it's not something that just goes away, and if he was at the stage of having hundreds to thousands of lesions on his skin, then he'd likely be dead now.
A burst appendix is not necessarily immediate death. That said, it would result in a raging infection, leading to sepsis (which I've actually had... not fun). Untreated, yes, it can lead to death. The pain would subside, but other symptoms would manifest as the infection spread. So, again, he'd be dead by now.
Of course, he'll just say, "That's why it's a miracle!" But, as with all other god claims, without proof there's no need to take it seriously. Especially from someone with a history of not understanding/misrepresenting things.
